Booking Through Thursday (4/21/11)

Over at Booking Through Thursday, the question for the week is “Can you judge a book by its cover?”

5 years ago I would have said not necessarily.  I would have said that often bad books could be lurking behind good covers.  Just this week I realized that times have changed. The Wee One saved all her money and got herself a Nook Color.  I love it and can hardly wait until they decide to open a apps store for more fun, but I digress.  Apparently, self publication has become huge with the advent of non-paper publication.  However, this has made book browsing painful.  The number of children’s books with awful, amateurish, eye searing book covers is overwhelming.  Now there might be a good story behind some of these covers but I am not holding my breath.

  1. Oh I know exactly what you mean. Just browsing the Kindle store on Amazon there are some covers that are just painful. But if the title or blurb catches my eye, I'll take a chance on them.

  2. I must admit that covers draw me in…or turn me away. But I always check the synopsis, and then others' recommendations, before making a decision.

    Here's MY BTT POST

  3. Some book covers aren't the greatest, but sometimes they fool you.

Stop and see mine and my giveaways.
