Beyond Your Blog – ABEA

I have never viewed myself as a writer; I am a reader who likes to talk about books.  But because when I started this blog I knew few people who read in the same genres as I do, I needed somewhere to talk about books where like minded people might come.  So a few years later here we are.  I blog about books.  I review books. I do book memes.  And this year I am hosting a challenge (1). For me blogging is mostly about wanting to make connections to other bloggers who feel as passionately as I do about books.

I have rarely received ARCs, but the one I have gotten was a doozy.  I am still so glad I got to read The Magician King early. For my birthday I received a Color Nook.  I am hoping that I will be able to up my e-ARCs through both NetGalley and Edelweiss.

Finally, I have been pretty open about the fact that I am an Amazon Associate.  Most links to books will result in my getting a very small cut if your purchase.  Other links to authors and other products are not monetized in any way.

And if nothing else … Blogging has brought me here to participating in and volunteering for ABEA!

(1) Poorly so far due to a crazy last minute job teaching which ate my life from January until June.

  1. For some reason, I am having a lot of difficulty with the background of your blog. Instead of being one color in the post section, the background print is there, and it makes it nearly impossible for me to see the text. I just thought I’d let you know, in case I am not the only one having this problem. It was fine the first time I visited here a few days ago, but since then, it’s been acting up somehow. I hope you don’t mind my bringing it to your attention- I wasn’t sure if you wanted it that way or if something changed in the formatting.

Sorry to tell you about this via comment, but I couldn’t see how else to contact you due to the issue above 🙂

    1. it seems to be working again on my end. Thanks so much for the heads up. let me know if it is still wonky on your end.

    1. So far I love mine too. We are traveling for summer vacation in a few weeks and it may be the first time I don’t have a suitcase full of books.

  2. It sounds like you’ve got most of your bases covered! Good work & don’t fret about the challenge. I found I had a hard time keeping up when I was trying so hard that when I stopped trying I accomplished more. Quirky way my brain decided to work. Tattooed Books

    1. Thanks, but I feel like I am letting down those who signed up. Hopefully they will stick around.

  3. I know. My one and only Advanced Copy and it was a book I was waiting for with bated breath.

  4. I have never received an ARC for review, but I do enter many giveaways for the ones I want to read so I occasionally get a few early.

Congrats on your nook color! I have a plain old, simple version of the nook. So jealous of everyone who has a nicer version. LOL But I do love it. 🙂

    1. Honestly, I am not against ARCs. I just think that it reduces book blogging to a personality contest. I get that publishers want to give ARCs to blogs with big readership. But do the blogs that have big numbers also have big readership?

The Nook has me very excited to be able to read a lot of classics. I am looking at Gutenberg to see what I can load up. 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by.
